The philosophy and pedagogy of Zoltán Kodály will continue with Hungarian, American and international faculty, offering the Master of Music Kodály Pedagogy degree, Summer Certificate program, and Seminars in Advanced Kodály topics at the University of Redlands.

Zoltán Kodály is known to establish solfézs, the movable do,"do re mi fa szó lá ti dó"  with corresponding hand signs. He believed with the proper pedagogy we can teach music every child regardless of talent. His work, however moves beyond music, we now know good breathing, friendships foster better health, nourish our nervous system and build our pscyhe.

Supporting organization is the Kodály Foundation (https://kodalyfoundation.org/)

The purpose of the Kodaly Foundation for Music Education is to advance Zoltán Kodály's vision of music for all, providing quality, accessible and inclusive music education for diverse communities and cultures.  We pursue a mission to develop financial resources in support of, and preserve for the exceptional training of music teachers at the internationally renowned Kodály Center.

A unique feature of this program is the opportunity for Kodály students to put theory into practice as they are learning.  The Kodály Center is one of the most highly respected programs outside of Hungary.  In 1973 it hosted the first International Kodály Symposium, which brought together music educators from five continents.  Invited delegates met during the first week, and over 350 people met for workshops and concerts during the following week.  The symposium led to the founding of both the Organization of American Kodály Educators the following year, in 1974, and the International Kodály Society in 1975.  After a 54-year history at Holy Names University in Oakland, California, the program now resides at The University of Redlands.  In keeping with tradition, the program offers year-round courses in teacher training culminating in a Kodály certificate or a Masters degree in Kodály Music Education.
