Rise of the Raven - Hunyadi

If you liked The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, likely this series will be your new fave.
"Edutainment" in Cannes Film Festival, MIPCOM, and now on Netflix this 10 part epic series about a Hungarian historical figure, János Hunyadi, who stopped the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire expanding to Western Europe while hugely outnumbered in Nándorfehérvár now Belgrade (Serb capital). The battle lasted 18 days.
This was so incredible at the time (1456), Pope Callixtus III ordered that churches all over the world shall ring their bells every day at noon, even today, more than five centuries later, they still do.

This eye candy cast is not just that. They speak 8 different languages in the movie (Hungarian, Serb, Italian, Polish, German, Turkish, Romanian, Czech) reflecting the true period. Mara, the Brankovics daughter, later wife of the Sultan learned Turkish for the role.
